Thank you to everyone who generously provided referrals to us this past quarter, as we presented a check for $1,120 to Englewood Animal Rescue Sanctuary (EARS)! EARS is a 501(c)3 non-profit with a mission “to rescue, shelter, and care for abandoned, abused, lost and stray cats and dogs until they are adopted into a forever home.” EARS also operates a thrift store, located on Dearborn Street in Englewood, and appreciates donations as the store helps support the adoption shelter. The journey to open EARS began in 2001 as founder Peggy Hauptman started putting the gears in motion to make her dream a reality. However, it wasn’t until 2011, after she passed, that EARS officially opened, thanks to a team of dedicated individuals.
If you’re interested in volunteering, donating or even fostering, there are many ways to help and you can find information on the EARS website or by calling the shelter at 941-681-3877. There are volunteer opportunities at the shelter and the thrift store. Fostering a cat or dog is a wonderful way to support EARS while the animal waits to find for its forever home. EARS is always accepting donations. Donations range from pet food to laundry detergent and much in between. EARS also has an Amazon wish list. If by chance you’re looking to donate a car or boat, they will accept that too.
